THE STOCKINGS WERE HUNG

Good morning, it is early on Saturday and I have been awake since 4 am. I figured I might as well get up and check out my favorite blogs and challenges. I had finished this card a few days ago so I might as well get it posted. It is a Christmas card and only my 5th one. I am so far behind. I really believe it is going to be store bought for a lot of my Christmas card list. I normally send out 50 to 60 cards a year.  And 5 doesn't even come close. Oh well, what can you do? This card is pretty simple and clean. It would be easy to reproduce if I had lots of time to spare. It is a stamp that was bought at Hobby Lobby in the clearance section last year. The gold paper is The Paper Studio. The sentiments are a Michaels clear $1 stamp set. The stockings were colored with copics E20, E21, E24 BLACK 100. The red is spica red glitter pen, I colored over all of the stockings with a coordinating glitter pen. The bling is from my stash as is the ribbon. The card base is actually a blank card that my sister gave me several sets of, and I did not know what I would do with them because of there size.  I really like the way this card turned out. So, I will try to put together a few more of them soon.

Yes, there are a few Christmas challenges for this card. The sketch for this card is from Tickled Pink Monthly Challenges

BLACK AND GREEN

Friday, I am so glad that it is Friday. I have a busy weekend planned but it will encompass all the things that I love. Scrapbooking, card making and shopping. How can you go wrong with that combination.

With today being Friday, you know it is time for another challenge at Tellen's Place Designs, The challenge this week is to use a BLACK background. How easy is that. The DIVAs have been very busy and you can see all of their wonderful creations over at Tellen's or visit each Diva at her blog. You can reach those blogs from my side bar. I am sure that they will be glad to hear from you. I work with a very talented group of ladies. So, just tell them that I sent you. You will be glad that you stopped by.

Now, on to my card. First, I will show it to you. Then I will tell you a little about it. I have to keep this post short. I still have to get ready for work.

This week I stuck with two colors and since we needed a black background, I knew it had to be embossed so I used the cuttlebug argyle embossing folder. The sketch  is from Fancy and Fussy Challenges

The image is one of the new Divas from Tellen's Place, I really like this one. I showed this card to a friend at work who is a member of a sorority and she placed an order for a set of note cards featuring My Diva. So that is a good deal.  My image was colored with copics: E00, E11, E13, G20, G21, G24 my new spica glitter pens. I bought the set with the richer colors and wish I had gotten it soon. I could not believe that Hobby Lobby had them in stock. I colored the glasses, belt, shoes, leaves and the edges of the card with the melon glitter pen. The bling comes from my stash. The card stock is bazzill. I used my Spellbinders Nestibilities to cut the oval/scalloped shape and the sentiment card. The flowers are from recollections at Michaels. They come 3 different shades of the same color. I did not have any green flowers so these were so perfect.   They also have chocolate, red, yellow. They are really great and at such a reasonable price. They were 40% off when I got these. Well, I guess that is all for my card. But, yes there are a few challenges to be entered.

The Pixie Cottage 2colors only
Delightful Challenges Glitter it Up
Stamp Something Something digi
Cute Card Thursday Anything Goes

Well, that is it.I hope t hat you like this card and would love to hear from you. I will be back later with more.

SHABBY VINTAGE

Wow, Tuesday already. And here I am with another post. This time I went vintage. I used a paper pad from Tim Holtz that I bought at Michaels from their clearance baskets. It is the Tim Holtz idea-ology Vintage Shabby. The papers come in 3 colors pink, blue and a taupy beige. There are designs on both sides of the paper. There are 12x12 papers, there are papers that can be cut for 6x6, there are papers that can be cut for ATC's and 2x2, and borders. This pad is just so awesome. I really do love it. The best thing about it is, that I only paid $4 for it. My image is a vintage dress that I found last year and have had only one occasion to use it. The sentiment comes from a Hero arts stamp set that I bought at Archivers on my last visit. I used my Spellbinders nestibilities in my cuttlebug. And embossed it with the Tim Holtz retro circles. The flowers are from my stash and I colored them with my copics E50 and E53. The brads are from Anna Griffin flora collection, I have had them for months and never used them. I did not even realize that they were brads until I opened the package. I just thought that they were different.  But, they were so perfect for this project. The pearls are a part of the fabulous package that I won last month from Midnight madness.  Brown pearls can you believe that?

I really like how this turned out. I plan to use it as part of a 2 page spread for my scrapbook. I participated in a fashion show a couple of months ago and I finally got my photos processed. So this weekend when my friends and I get together for a day of scrapbooking. I plan to get lots of pages done. this just gives me a head start.

There are are few challenges and then I must end this post. I can barely keep my eyes opened. And there are still a few things that I need to take care of before going to bed.

I flipped it a bit.

THANK YOU SO MUCH

Good morning, first I want to make an announcement. I reached 160 followers... WOO HOO.... (as I show excitement) As I said yesterday, if I got to 160 followers, I would add another prize to the candy. Now there will be 2 winners instead of 1. The second prize will be kept a surprise just because I don't have a lot of time today for taking the picture. But, know that it will be great. Thank you all so much for the wonderful comments and making my anniversary so nice. There is still time to get in on the drawing, it does not end until November 19, 2010.

Now, I do have a card to post. About a month ago my friends and I went on our annual scrapbooking  retreat. This is the retreat where last year, I made my first card and became aquainted with Copic markers.  And don't forget, I was not impressed with either. (Now look at me). Isn't it amazing how much can change in a years time? Anyway, last year we bought the owner a rocking chair to thank him for giving us his cabin for the weekend, free of charge. (This cabin is not your usual cabin).  This year, we cooked him and his wife dinner and took it to them and served them. But, my friends asked me to make him a thank you card. Not my usual style of card with lots of bling and flowers and ribbons. This card had to manly. Well, I decided to use one of the photos that I took of the weekend from their outside deck. The area is gorgeous. The cabin sits right on the river and the view from every side is awesome. So here is my thank you card.

The card base is bazzill, the DP is from Hobby Lobby. The sentiment stamp is one that I bought on clearnce some where. The fall colors of the paper were a great choice. We all signed the card on the inside and I stamped a wonderful thank you sentiment. We mailed him the card so I don't know if he liked it or not. The ink used to stamp the senitment was Momento. Yes, there are challenges, though not very many.

Cupcake Craft Challenges Thank you with Autumn colors
Papertake Weekly Penny for the Guy (GDT)
Tuesday Throwdown Give Thanks
Our Creative Corner An Attitude of Gratitude

Well, I guess this is it for this card. Once again I would love to say thanks for stopping by and I hope to see you again  soon.

IT'S BEGINNING TO LOOK A LOT LIKE CHRISTMAS

(THIS CARD WAS A WINNER AT "THE CRAFTY PURPLE FROG CHALLENGE BLOG" It won the sparkle challenge of 11/4/10)

Happy Saturday, I am here this morning with a new Christmas card. It is a shame that this is only the 3rd card that I have made. At this rate I will be using store bought cards to mail out. Life is busy and there is lots going on at work. Starting the 15th, I will be in a training class all week from 7 to 5pm every day. That won't leave much time for anything else. So, I will try to get some things made early so that I have something to post in the middle of that week.

Just a reminder that I have blog candy and there is still time to get in on it. It will be open until November 19, 2010. Why not take a chance.

Now to my card. The stamps that I have used today are from Penny Black, I bought them a few months ago at Hobby Lobby. It is a Christmas set that I got at a really great price. It contains 5 stamps and the set is called "this and every year", it is from 2007. I think that I will be making a lot of my cards from this stamp set. I want to keep them simple but, gorgeous. The sketch that I used is from Inktegrity Design Team Challenge

For my stamped images, I stamped using Versamark and then silver embossing powder that was also bought in the clearance section of Hobby Lobby. Then I used my heat gun  and the bling is from my stash. I stamped the sentiment using Momento Danube blue. I used my Spellbinders large inverted scalloped circle (bought on clearance at Hobby Lobby for $8.99) and the Spellbinders regular circle. The ribbon is Martha Stewart, from this past years Christmas sales at Kmart. You won't believe the price I paid. I embossed with the Cuttlebug snowflake folder. The paper for the card base and first layer  is  Bazzill, the smaller pieces of paper are from my scrap files. I really do like how this card turned out. Yes, there are challenges.

BLOG CANDY REMINDER

Happy rainy Tuesday, yes it is raining here and I am home because of trying to move something heavy that I should have left alone. It has been 2 days of sitting around here getting nothing done.

But, I wanted to remind every one that we are at the halfway point of the anniversary blog candy. It will run until November 19, 2010 and you can get to that post by clicking on the picture on my sidebar.  There were several comments left where the person or persons did not become a follower. I am sorry but, when the time comes for the drawing, if you are not a follower your name will not be entered into the drawing. I have been going through some bags of goodies and have decided that if I should reach 160  followers I will have a second drawing. I am putting together the prize as we speak. I really appreciate all of the well wishes and great comments that have been left for me. I will get to each blog because I do like to follow the people who are followers of my blog. There are so many wonderful blogs out there and it is sometimes hard to get by
them all.

Thank you all so much for giving me so much encouragement. Because when I first started this venture, I really did not expect for it to last this long. But, it has been a wonderful journey and I hope it will go on for a long time to come.
