SATURDAY CHALLENGE OF FRIENDS

Recently a friend and I decided to do a one on one challenge. We both have lots of crafty products and a lot of it we have never used. So the challenge is to help us to use our products. The challenge for this week was to make a card and the card had to have certain things.
1. use a recollection corrugated card base
2. use bling
3. use flowers
4. with a twist (we had to use the others favorite color.

The card stock is Recollection as is the corrugated card base. I like to cover all sides of the card base, front, back and inside. The punch used was Martha Stewart. The bling is from the Paper Studio and the flowers are from Recollection. The image is Graphic 45 by Hampton Arts. The sentiment is also from Graphic 45 (the Couture collection) by Hampton Arts. I used a spellbinders die and a cuttlebug embossing folder (musical flourishes). I inked all of the edges of the papers with Tim Holtz distress ink.

I used the Martha Stewart punch again and this sentiment is from The Paper Studio. Well, that is it for this week. I hope that you like my card. My friend and I will be back in two weeks with another challenge project.

CHRISTMAS IN JULY

Ok, it has been awhile since I last blogged. Life has been super busy and then there was the car trouble. Who wants to buy a new car, I don't  so I have to keep this one running. Has anyone noticed how life can change in a heart beat? And you are unable to control the change. So what do you do? Well, I try to go with the flow and not get to stressed out about it. I also try to remember that life is precious and you don't want to waste it. So enjoy it all that you can.

Today I have a Christmas project that I am going to share with you. It is a faux toilet tissue roll mini album and instead of using toilet tissue rolls I used 6x6 pieces of bazzill card stock to make the base pages, I used K and Company and My minds eye DP to cover the base pages. and all of the papers came from my scraps except for the card stock. The tags are from my stash, I used a 1" punch to make the tabs on the tags. I used my cinch to bind it and the ribbons are from my stash. The die cuts are all from K and Company. The tags were inked with Tim Holtz distress ink fired brick.

 

 

 

I really love how this turned out and it was very easy to make and did not take very much time at all.

CHRISTMAS TAGS

Finally time to post a little Christmas cheer. The tags in this post were made as a birthday gift for my friend. She had earlier asked if I could design her a set of tags for Christmas. So I took the challenge and this is what I came up with.

 

The papers are from My Minds Eye Lost and Found Christmas Pad. The stamp is from the Paper Studio set I bought a few years ago. The ribbon is celebrate from Michaels. I inked the edges with Tim Holtz fired brick distress ink.  On the back I stamped to and from. I cut the the 2 different size tags using the my Cricut. My friend loved them and once again I met the challenge. This is the same friend that bought my first cards and as a result I sale quite a few of my projects. These or some similar will be added to next years projects.

SPECIAL CHRISTMAS CARDS

Where did the time go? It is 5:35 pm on Sunday and it will soon be time to get ready for work. The weekend does seem to go so fast. But, I did get a chance to get some crafting done. I worked on several projects and here are a couple of Christmas cards that I got finished with today.

 

 

 

I really like the way that these turned out. Because the papers are so busy, I did not want to add any images  to the fronts of the cards. So, I made the sentiment a little bigger than I normally would have. The papers used are from Recollections and is called Starry Night. The card stock is Recollection, also as is the stamp on the front. I used the inverted scalloped die and the regular circle die from Spellbinders. Tim Holtz distress ink, faded jeans to ink the edges. The card base is the corrogated cards that I got also from Recollections. The sentiment on the inside is from Stupendous. The bling is from my stash, For the Merry Christmas, I stamped it with the distress ink and then embossed it with some silver embossing powder. Well, that is it for now. BIRTHDAY WISHES TO A GOOD FRIEND

I am back with another post (2 in one day). this time it is a birthday card for a good friend. Her birthday is the first of December and I need to get it in the mail soon.

 

The card base is one of the corragated cards from Recollections. They came out a couple of months ago and I got a box. The card size is 5.5x5.5. I used Tim Holtz faded jeans distress ink to ink the edges of the card and papers. The image is by Bugaboo Stamps and she is Scarlett with packages. I like using this on birthday cards. She is colored with copics, B01, B02, B04, E09, E11, E13, E15, E18 and I used clear star gelly roll glitter pen for a little sparkle. The sentiments are from TPC Studio that I bought at Hobby Lobby. The card stock is from The Paper Store. I used the Cuttlebug embossing folder (happy birthday) to emboss the first layer. The silver blue and white paper is from K and Company.

 

 

The silver and blue snowflake papers are from Recollections Christmas collection Starry Nights. The celebrating you stamp is from Michaels $1 bin a couple of years ago. The sentiment is a digital freebie that I don't remember where it came from, but if any body knows please drop me a line so that I can give credit where it is due.

I papered the back because it is corrogated and just had my stamped information.

GUEST DESIGNER AT DIGITAL TWO FOR TUESDAY

I was recently offered an opportunity to do a Guest designer spot at Digital Two for Tuesday a wonderful vintage blog that offers lots of free and gorgeous images. Cora Harkin is the owner and you should really stop by for a visit. I know that you will find at least a few images that you can't resist.

 My technique this week is DISTRESS RESIST. In my search to find out how to do this. There are several different styles. First I used versmark to stamp my tree branches/leaves and covered that area with clear embossing powder, then used the heat gun to emboss it. After that was done I used Tim Holtz distress inks wild honey and faded jeans with a sponge applicator to cover the embossed areas. Using a piece of paper towel I wiped off the excess ink and the emblossing comes through beautifully.

I colored this beautiful bird with my copics E31, G24, R22, Y13, Y11, Y17. the background stamp is from Studio G. the sentiment is from the $1 bin at Michaels and the card stock is from my scrap file. I used a Martha Stewart corner punch that I recently purchased and used the faded jeans ink around the edges of the image. I really like how this card turned out and can't wait to send it to a friend who lives out of town.

BABY ITS COLD OUTSIDE-LET IT SNOW

I MADE TOP THREE AT CRAFTS 4 ETERNITY

Good morning, I am here with a quick post and I am running a little late. First of all it really feels like winter here in the south. And boy am I cold. It is hard to tell the difference between the cold in Chicago (where I am originally from) and the cold we are experiencing here in the south, it really  reminds me so much of home). So I thought that I would post my winter charms, that were made for the charm swap that I participate in each month. The theme is blue, silver, white and snowflakes.

The technique for the tag is one used by Tim Holtz in the 12 tags of Christmas. I made these smaller that the one I did for his challenge. The snowman is cut from the Joys of the Season cricut cartridge. I used crackle accents on the snowmen and then blue alcohol ink mixed with fixative and rubbed it on the snowmen. For the tag I stamped a snowflake on it several times and then used clear embossing powder and my trusty little heat gun and then went over it with the same mixture as the snowmen. I used blue stickles on the scarf and the beads are a mixture from Michaels and Walmart. The snowflake attached to the charm is actually a christmas tree ornament that I painted with gesso then after it was dry I painted on some modge podge and dipped it in some fine glitter. Once that dried I put on more modge podge and let dry. accented it with a little blue stickles. Well, that is  it for this project. Now, on to the challenges.

LAST MINUTE CHRISTMAS

Good morning everyone, only a few more days until Christmas and I thought that I would share another of the cards that I made this season. This is from a set of cards that I made for my sister. She loved the card that I made for her last year and asked me to make her a set that she could send out this year. She loves purple and this is what I came up with. I kept the layers light for mailing purposes. this card was embossed with the cuttlebug snowflakes folder and then I used Tim Holtz dusty concord distressed ink to rub over the snowflakes. The purple cardstock is bazzill and the stamp is from a set of Penny Black stamps and it was heat embossed with inkadinkado embossing powder, purple.. The ribbon is from my stash. This card was so easy and simple that I made several sets using different embossing folders and colors.

LET IT SNOW

Happy Thanksgiving, I just wanted to stop by for a short post and then it is off to breakfast and then to start dinner. Got to get an early start.

Another Christmas card. It is definitely that time of year. This is a pop of card. It was embossed with the cuttlebug snowflake folder and then I rubbed brick red distress ink over it. Add santa and a ho ho ho which I typed on the computer. Then I was ready to go. The bling and the santa are both dollar stamps from Michaels. The red card stock is bazzill.

CHRISTMAS TAGS

Finally a minute to get this project posted. I am fortunate enough to have a wonderful group of friends to craft with and yesterday we got together for a full day of crafting. So suffice to say that I did not get a lot of work done. We, spend a lot of time talking and eating and some time working. But, a fun time was had by all. The one thing is my broadband service was non existent in the basement area where we were crafting.  Oh well.  Today's post is of some Christmas tags that I made for my girlfriends birthday last week. She really loved them and says that she will use them on some really special gifts to her family. I made here two different sizes and 6 of one and 2 of the other. I will only be showing one style today.

The stamp is Recollections, I stamped using Tim Holtz distressed fire brick red ink and then I used Perfect pearls over that, this is a technique that I saw on the Tim Holtz site, the only thing is I did not spray water on it after I finished.  Go on by and check it out. He has some wonderful ideas. It gives such a wonderful effect. I heat set it and then added crystal diamond stickles to the hat and beard. Used stickers for the words and once everything was dry I used the same distressed ink all over the tag. I really like the way that these turned out. The ribbon is from my stash.

BIRTHDAY FOR A DIVA

Happy Sunday, this should really be a short post because I have got to get dressed and get out really soon. I can not believe the productive week that I have had. And to prove it, here is another card that I just finished. This one is also a birthday card. Although, I have not decided who I will give it to, I do have several more birthdays coming up in the next couple of months. So there is plenty of time to make a decision.

A little about the card. The sketch is from Friday Sketchers: I chose it because of the many layers. The circle on the bottom is embossed with the Cuttlebug and I think it is the bubble folder. I did not write down the name before I threw out the packaging. I also used this on the square of taupe color paper, which is Bazzill the brown that the circle is cut from is Paper Studio. The brown stripe is Basic Grey. The orange under the image is from DCWV safari Chic. The orange squares is from My Minds Eye Home. It seems that every company had something that I needed for this card.

The image is from Bugaboo Stamps I have had it for quite a while and never used it. To be truthful, I have several of the images and have never used any of them. I think that I sometimes forget just what I have. They are digital and I really do love them. Some of them are just down right funny. The owner is Jodie Mackrel and you really should go by and check her out. Why don't I show you my card and then finish telling you about it.

I really love the way that this turned out. The flowers are from Recollections at Michaels. They were only 99 cents. The colors were just perfect for this. I colored this image with my Copics. The colors I used are E25, E13, E02, E42, E09,  for the skin and hair. The ones that I used for the clothes and accessories are colors that I don't use often. They are Y32, Y35, Y38 and my clear spica glitter pen. I colored the pearls, which are from Martha Stewart and I got them when they were clearanced out, with Y38. Around the edges of the images I used distressed ink in Antiqued linen.  I only used a small amount, I did not want it to over power the card. The sentiment is from my clearanced Michaels set of 8. The brads are from my stash.

Another Birthday Wish

Happy Saturday, I am here with my first post of the weekend and it will be a short one. It is 12 noon and although I have run most of my errands I still need to go to the health club.  Today is a big football day in my town. The University of Alabama A-Day game. The streets are conjested and will be the rest of the weekend. So I hope to get a lot of work done when I return home.

Now on to my card. Today it is a birthday card. I plan to send it to a member of one of my yahoo groups who is a part of the Birthday Club. But, since you all know me, you know it will be entered into several challenges. The first is Crafty Creations it is limited edition. 1 designer paper (Basic grey lemonade pad) I hope this counts; 1 image (by Elizabeth Bell) and 1 embellishment I made a flower of 3 layers and 1 flower brad. I hope this counts. I love the simplicity of this card. The next is at Sophisticats distressing. I love the look of the distressing around the edge of the image. Next is at Paper Take Weekly this one is called cutie pie. I think my little girl comes under that heading. And last but not least is at the Pixie Dust Studios  use green as your main color. I know I got this right on the dot. My image was colored with copics G21, G40, Y17, Y15, V01, V04, E31, C1 and C3. I used spica glitter pens on the belt, bracelet, flowers. I used Jim Holtz vintage photo distress ink on the edges of the image. The sentiment is from Inkadinkado. Well, here is my card.
