WOYWW 167

Hi fellow snoopers. I can't believe that I have missed 2 weeks of snooping at other peoples blogs.  I have truly missed you all. There are times when life just makes you take a step back. It has really been busy around here. I was out of town a few days helping my cousin to celebrate her 65th birthday and work has been a total mad house. But, I am here today to hang out with the fabulous Ms Julia Dunnit over at the Stamping Ground. She is the lady who started this snoop fest. If you don't know what I am talking about. go on over and take a look around. It is a time to travel around the world and get a peek at all of the wonderful blogs and the artist that they belong to. I haven't done a lot of crafting in the last couple of weeks. I have done a couple of backgrounds in my art journal but, I am not sure where they are going.

This one was done with acrylic paints and circle sponges and stamps

This one was done with color washes. I sprayed one side with several different colors (one at a time) and closed the page pulled them apart and dried them and then sprayed again with another color. Until I got this effect. It kind of reminds me of a storm. but, can you see the mirror image.

And here is my desk, on the right you can see the mini album that I made for my cousins birthday. that would be the black and gold one. For a better look you should go to post right before this one. You can also see that I started to work on a page in my smash book. This one about the high cost of owning and driving a car. I can't believe I am finding lots of old drivers licenses around. (they are renewed every 4 years and I never throw anything like that away.) The cost of gas and new tires and engine work. It never ends. But, I have driven my present car for 15 years and it is still going strong. So that is it for me. Go on over to Julias and see what the world is doing.

  1. Wahoo!! I am your first comment. Watching BET awards and blogging. Love the art journal. I second one kind of looks like an ultra sound. I am tired, so let's see if I think the same tomorrow when I have had rest!!

I kept old work ideas and my office sign from my last job too. So don't feel like your the only one to hang on to stuff. Congrats on keeping your vehicle for 15 years. My old car I had for 14 years and then in 2010 I bought a new one. So I know what you mean about expenses. Everytime I see your smash album I am tempted to pick up mine off the shelf. So keep it coming. I hope for you that more time for crafting is available soon. Take care and come play at my desk when you are free.

  2. Welcome back. Love your album pages, Joynana! I adore circle motifs, and the second one does look very like a storm, or waves of the sea. It's beautiful.

    Lovely busy desk, too.

  3. Lovely background pages and I do exactly the same thing. ... Play around and eventually I come back and add something to the background. Great idea to document what our life is like especially the everyday things. Your grandchildren will love having that information.

  4. Hi Joynana,

I really like your first journal page - very colorful and just perfect in every way!

Wow. The longest I've owned the same car is about 11 years. It's great when they last that long. I just bought a new car in the hopes that it will be paid off when I retire!

My blog candy is posted so check it out!

    Happy WOYWW

  5. Love those circles, very bright and gorgeous colours. Similarly love the mirror image pages, isn't that a fun technique? Try it with two dominoes and some acrylic paints - good fun!

  6. Nifty squish-ink technique. I like the organic look of it. It reminds me of tree bark. And "snoopers!" LOL! It's not a lie - we are a snoopy lot - but it's always so inspiring....like this. Something to play with for sure.

  7. I like your first journal page - in fact, it would look fab as a fabric design too. I'd like a shirt made in those colours!!

  8. I love those backgrounds Joy. Love the turquoise on the first and the second reminds me of distorted tree bark! Good for you keeping your car for so long, my last one was 13 years old but wouldn't have made it through another Michigan winter without spending quite a bit of money on it. My new one was 18 months old when I got it and I've had it for three years, luckily my husband is an Automotive Engineer and takes care of our vehicles, so much cheaper than going to the dealer.

  14. Loving those backgrounds. The browns, I thought they looked kind of rock-y, outback-y... until you said stormy when I thought it looked like a storm! Very nice.

  15. They've got you too, haven't they, the gas providers..we need our cars! It's over 13 dollars a gallon here, which certainly explains our love of teeny engines!! I bet you had a fab time and your cousin must have loved the album. Even with not much time this week you've created..love the contrasting moods of the two page sets that you've decorated!

  36. Hi Joynana Thanks for popping to see me - there will be a tutorial but it may be a couple of weeks as it is part of my plans to get my business of the ground - baby steps! I absolutely love the second journal page background. It looks like fabulous stone formations that you might find in an underground cave - great job. Belated WOYWW Hugs to you from Helen 18

  37. Well I think you've put me right over the edge, I'm going to have to start "smashing . . ."

By the way, Omni Gel is, well, a gel, and you cover photocopied pics with it. When it dries, briefly soak the paper in water, and then gently rub all the paper off, leaving the image, but now it's transparent, so whatever you attach the pic to, the background shows through, and it kind of has a glow to it, as well.
